Fooled.

So, yesterday I decided I was feeling really nice so I woke up extra early to make breakfast for Jeff and I. This never happens, because... well... I hate waking up in the morning! So, I make breakfast burritos for Jeff and call him downstairs and he's shocked that I had done this, haha. He left before I did per usual and I left a few minutes later and before I sit down, I see this...

I had totally forgotten it was April Fool's Day until I saw that thing. I chuckled to myself and took a picture of it, so I could text it to Jeff to say, "Nice try at your lame joke" or something. But I was running late for work and would do it later. So I turn the car on and ALL THIS CONFETTI is shooting out from all the air vents!! I'm like laughing so hard because he totally got me. Jeff had been hiding behind the driveway and came running up to me after I gotten "confetti-ized" laughing so hard at me.

So, all day at work I'm trying to think of something I could get him back with! I couldn't think of anything good. After work, I had my brother write this note....

"Sorry about the dent. Give me a call so we can swap insurance info. Travis 702-452-0083"

That night we went out to eat for our date night and during the meal I said I had to use the restroom and secretly ran outside to put the note on the windshield of our car.

As we were walking back to our car, he immediately spotted the note and grabbed it and was all, "Ahh, a dent?! You have got to be kidding me!!" And he's searching around the whole car to find this so-called dent. He found a small scratch that had been there since before we got married and was like, "this has to be it". He was so annoyed. It was so funny. So we spent the next 20 minutes talking about how "Travis is an idiot, and how could someone hit another car in a practically empty parking lot", etc.

I encouraged him to call "Travis", since you should take care of something like this right away. But he insisted on taking care of it the next morning so he "could see it in broad daylight and have a pen and paper in hand to take down all his information."

This is Jeff calling "Travis" the next day hahaha. The number on the note is to one of my friend's house. The answering machine luckily was her dad and didn't say their names. So he left his message... "Hi, Travis, this is Jeff Giles. I'm calling about the dent you left on my car. I appreciate you leaving that note..." yada yada yada. I'm laughing, trying to discretely take this picture...

After he hung up, I told him it was a joke. I'm crying because I'm laughing so hard (it's not even that funny, really... I guess I think I'm hilarious?) So he calls back to leave ANOTHER message to say to disregard his last one.

Got you back! Next year will be better...

Old Birthday Days.

It was Jeff's birthday yesterday! And since I want to eventually print this blog into a book, I wanted to start posting old pictures I have. So, let's take a stroll down the ole' Memory Lane and reminisce on our dating days when we spent Jeff's first birthday as a couple. So precious.

So, this was Jeff's 28th birthday. We had been dating for about 4 months. I picked him up and went to Black Angus for dinner, because his favorite meal is steak and potatoes. After dinner, we went to Mickey's Poolhall to play some pool. Then over to U-Swirl for some frozen yogurt-- we ate outside on the tables and I put a candle in his yogurt and sang to him. Haha.

After dessert, we went back to my house where Jeff's gift was waiting for him on the couch. I gave him a bunch of random things that didn't go together, so I took a long piece of cardboard and traced my brother on it, cut it out and dressed it up with the gifts I got him, and took a picture of Jeff's face and glued it onto the head. It was pretty funny. It freaked Jeff out when he walked through the door.

The sign the figure thing is holding says, "Happy Birthday to ME! My girlfriend is so hott." haha.

Anyway, so that was a couple years ago and I was trying to remember what we did last year. It was right after we were married and I don't remember taking any pictures. Sorry, Jeffy.

Oh and p.s. I get really happy when I compare the length of my hair from then to now. Woo!

Reflection.

The weather right now is so awesome. I hate that Jeff and I both don't have graveyard work shifts (not really), so we can be out doing awesome things, like roller blading and garage sale-ing and basketballing and swimming all day. I mean, there's only like 2.5 weeks of great weather and we're letting it slip through our fingers! Right now, Jeff is doing yard work and pulling out weeds and whatnot while I sit on the porch with the computer just browsing the internet on mindless things sipping on my crisp beverage of choice (ok, fine, it's just water-- let's face it, our fridge is empty). It's soo perfect outside, I love it! And Jeff is doing a fantastic job at destroying the ever so dreadful task of weed pulling.

Life is simple and good right now. Much to be thankful for. Speaking of which, I just got back Sunday from a great weekend with my lady in-laws. I love them.

Jeff is turning 30 this weekend-- eek! (his word, not mine.) It's kind of stressing him out, ok not really again. but it's just weird. As of last month we're technically not "newlyweds" anymore and I'll be married to a 30 yr old? This is strange. But I love it. Life together just feels natural and how it's supposed to. We're moving up in the world in our classy little home and my homemade wreath and leftover homecooked meals in the fridge with my coupon clippings on the counter and my TLC shows recorded on DVR. And wouldn't change any of it.

Happy to be alive! :)

One Year Down...

I cannot believe we have been married for one year! It has gone by so fast-- can't even believe it. I look back on this past year and think of all that we have done and experienced together and get so happy when I think of the next 60 or 70 years. It's been fun getting used to each other and learning weird things that we didn't know before. It's been a good time, to say the least.

So, we celebrated our anniversary on Friday. After I got off work, I went to my parents house like I always do (mostly to just raid their fridge :) ) When I got there, there was a gift with a note inside. It said...

Happy anniversary!
I will send you a text, so you know what comes next.
So hang at your house til about 6, watch out for Sam he likes to kick.

(haha, my brother)

I was so excited! I love stuff like this. So anyway, around 6:30pm I got this text...

Yeah, I didn't know exactly what place he was talking about, because it could've been a lot of different places. But the first place that I thought of, was the right one. It was the UNLV parking garage because that was one of our first dates-- going longboarding down the parking structure and getting slurpees afterward.

So I got there and another text said "it's under a neon X". I was so excited about this, I loved it haha. So I found an Exit sign and there was another gift under that and Jeff was waiting for me at the top story of the parking garage.

Next, we went to PF Changs because back when we very first started dating, I told him I had never been there before. And he'd say "You haven't?! Well I'll have to take you there!" And a year of dating and a year of marriage later... he finally took me! And it was divine.

Oh, and there was a bag packed beforehand and after dinner we went to the Trump hotel. We love that place. We stayed there the night of our wedding and you can get the best deals there because there's no gambling there, so they give good room rates.

It was great! We slept in and the next day we walked across the street and ate at the Nordstrom's Cafe for some lunch and walked around the mall, then we checked our of our hotel around 4pm.

Sunday night, we went over to my parents house for dinner like we do every week and since this was our actual anniversary we got out the top of our wedding cake and had a piece.

It was a great weekend! I love Jeff and love him more everyday. Even when he beats me at Words With Friends :)

The love day.

So, when we picked our wedding date, we just tried to figure out a weekend and Feb. 20th just worked for us. But when we picked it, I didn't really realize that it was going to be our wedding anniversary in ALL the years to come. Yeah, I don't know how that little detail just slipped past me. So Valentine's day will always just be a small thing, because our anniversary is just a few days later and I think that's more important.

So I put together a little somethin' somethin' for Jeff before he came home from work...

I got a huge pack of construction paper from Hobby Lobby for $1.50 (score) and cut out every paper into a million hearts and wrote one reason why I love him on each heart... yeah, Every. Single. Heart. There's more posted on the other walls but they're not all pictured.

Don't be thinking I got him some new lap top or something in that gift bag. Just a t-shirt (which was on sale-- score, again).

Jeff got me some flowers. He got me some tulips because he said he likes my "two lips" haha. And this really cute jewelry box with a little necklace inside. The best part of my gift was my hilarious card. I always look forward to those. My favorite cards to get are just a piece of computer paper folded in half with a funny comic on one side and then the written part on the other side. Jeff makes the funniest comics. I love them. He does this for every card I get, because that's what me and my family do for each other and it's the best thing ever. This comic was "New Discoveries About My Wife", and just different scenarios about me. Sooo funny. And the card itself was so sweetly written.

Then we just went to CPK for dinner and walked over to Borders and drank hot apple cider and read magazines. It was simple and great. Oh, and when we got home, he let me watch The Bachelor :)

It was a fantastic V-day and I just love him more everyday!

xo

This is the month of love, so I just wanted to give a little shout out to my man. He's great. That's all. We met back in the summer of '07 (I was 20, he was 26). Jeff had actually gotten my friend's number at a party and he called her and invited "her and her friends" to hang out with him and his roommates. And I was one of the "friends". We just hit it off right away because I told some lame joke that he still remembers. We went out a few times that summer, but didn't really think much of it, because I was moving to Provo at the end of the summer for Esthetic school. We talked every once in awhile for the next year. Mostly just Facebook comments here and there. I moved home in August of the next year to just work and save some money for a few months, because I was set and planning on going to India to travel and work in an orphanage for 3 or 4 months. I went up to Provo to visit friends over General Conference weekend and happened to break my leg Classic Skating (I know, so embarrassing right haha). I was planning on leaving to India 3 weeks from then, but plans changed once I took that graceful fall on the roller rink and had a broken leg for the next 2 months. I ran into Jeff at a Halloween party a few weeks later and just hit it off even better the second time around (leg brace and all); it was pretty funny. So, that was Fall of '09. We've been inseparable ever since! After a year of dating we were engaged and 2 and a half months later married on February 20th. Although, I was pretty upset about breaking my leg, that was for sure was a blessing in the end, because I wouldn't have ever started dating Jeff if I had gone to India (my plan was to move back to Utah after I got back from my excursion). Thank you, Jeff for making me one happy girl every day!

Roses are red...

Now, this is my first attempt at a craft of any kind. So what's easier than a cardstock rose wreath? That's just why I did it. This thing was so easy, but REALLY time consuming. I made the roses while I was at work and then hot glued them at night. Just ignore the excess of glitter that looks like dust, I got a little excited with the glitter :)

Happy Valentine's month!
