smart

So, tonight I was cooking a new recipe I had and was chopping a jalapeno pepper. For whatever reason I had never cooked with a jalapeno pepper before. So I was chopping it and didn't wash my hands afterward (it didn't even cross my mind to do so). Soon after I had touched my face and within minutes I feel like my face is ON FIRE. Like I wanted to die. I couldn't concentrate on anything but the blazing flames that were spreading across my face.

I frantically try googling "what to do when burned by jalapeno" as I simultaneously rub about 20 ice cubes forcefully across my skin. I can't even concentrate on what I'm reading so I grab my phone and call my mom (all moms know what to do in any situation). Of course my brother answers instead and is laughing as I'm trying to explain to him the sheer torture my face is experiencing. So he tries to Google what to do and our friend Google explains that you should rub olive oil on the burnt part and then soak in milk.

There's no easy way to do that since it's on my FACE, so what do I do? Just that. I fill a bowl with milk and bury my face in it as fast as I had poured it.

And of course, no embarrassing ordeal ever occurs without your husband witnessing it, so in walks Jeff from a late work day just in time to see my face soaking in the heroic dairy product. It was really attractive. And he was dying laughing.

So yeah, basically I'm really smart (not). And now I know what to do the next time I scorch my skin with peppers.

For your viewing pleasure, because what would a post be without a picture? As soon as Jeff walked in the room and saw me, he immediately grabbed his phone to take this. He's so sweet.

hahahaha!!! this is hands down the best post ever! dont worry I did the stupidest thing and Ty wil not let me live it down. We got green beans an peas from some buddies of ours. I decided to make some kind of green bean, mushroom, chicken dish (which turned out delicious) and so i am cutting up what i thought were the green beans and ty and i are talking about gardening and how i loved eating my mothers beans when they would grow in. Then Ty looks in to the pot that I am cutting them in to and starts to laugh at me because I had been utting up the green peas, so i had to stop and shell them all. Then i actually cooked the green beans at a later date and did not cut the ends of or wash them (they are fresh from te garden.) He just patted me on the head and said he is glad I make him feel useful....

I'm so sorry! I used to have to clean the hot sauce bottles when I was a hostess at "Wingers" and even though I wore gloves my hands would burn for hours. Wish I would've known about the milk! That's good to know for next time. I was hoping Jeff had taken a picture of you for all to see! :)

Hahaha I laughed for like five minutes straight after this. I would've done the same thing. In case this ever happens to me....did the milk work?
